About Me

A.K.A. 'The Boring Stuff'

I write fantasy books set in the world of Greyfelle (along with a few other types of books on occasion). I’ve been a journalist for 25 years, working for a variety of newspapers, magazines and websites. In my career, I’ve been a reporter, editorial page editor, Page One editor, news director, editorial writer, senior editor and editor in chief. Yeah, lots of hats.

I’ve covered (and worked in) the computer industry since 2000, and currently serve as editor in chief of a major IT industry publication.

My chief hobby (hoping to one day make it a career) is fiction writing, both novels and screenplays. In 2012, my screenplay “Deadly Air,” about the early days of the U.S. Airmail Service, won a special award at the Astana International Action Film Festival in Astana, Kazakhstan. I’ve also collaborated on screenplays with a major Hollywood producer.

I’ve since turned my attention to novels, and am working on the sequel to my debut fantasy “99 Days.” I spent a week with legendary science fiction author Orson Scott Card at his “Literary Boot Camp,” for which I was personally chosen by Card. While there, I wrote a short story that became the basis for the world of Slypht. A short story based on this world (elements of which have been incorporated into my novella “The Blood King”) won an Honorary Mention award in the Writers of the Future contest.

I live on the East Coast with my amazing wife and gaggle of children.
